The message won't really say ???.EXE, just substitute the text appropriate to the product you are using, such as PRF.EXE.

NT is trying to be clever here, and as a result sees a problem where there isn't one.

The software used to create the Synergy DOS applications uses an unusual (but perfectly legal) file format that NT mistakes as indicating a Windows based application.

Solution: Use a utility called FORCEDOS that is provided with NT. To do this, just use FORCEDOS ???.EXE where you would normally write FORCEDOS ???.EXE.
