Synergy Support
Though it might be obvious to say so, this message means that the program couldn't find your Sage data where it expected to find it. The most common situation for this to happen is on networked systems.
If you have a network where the Sage data is held on a server but is also accessed from workstations it is common for the drive identification to be different from the point of view of a program working directly on the server and one working from a workstation. The most common situation is for the server to think of it's hard drive as C: and for the workstations to see it as E:.
The Sage product gets around this problem by using configuration files that end in .INS (e.g. NET.INS) that can be referred to in the command that starts the Sage program. For workstations this commonly means starting the Sage product with a command line like
SAGE -i net
The Synergy products use exactly the same system. So if you run your Sage product on a workstation with the command line
SAGE -i net
you will need to use an equivalent command line for the Synergy product. For Profile this would be
PRF -i net
Using Synergy products from the Sage DOS Functions menu slightly complicates matters, since the same DOS Functions menu will be seen whether you are working from the server or the workstation, but the same command line won't work for both.
The solution for this is to have two entries in DOS Functions, one to be used when working on the server and the other to be used when working on a workstation.
The easiest way to achieve this is to use the Advanced Options facility when installing the product. To find Advanced Options, run the install program supplied with the Synergy product. From the main options screen, PgDn to Advanced Options. For the situation illustrated above, you would need to enter "-i net" into the Parameters 2 section of the Advanced Options page. Completing the installation process will then result in two entries on the DOS Functions, the second of which should be suitable for use from a workstation.
